It is often used to refer to Horie in Naniwa. * Chronicles (720), October 11th year of the Nintoku era (Maeda Honkun) "They dug the plains north of Miyano , and brought the water from the south into the sea in the west. Therefore, the water was called Horie. " [2][1] The name of the area in the southern part of Nishi-ku, Osaka City, surrounded by the Kizu River, Nishiyokobori River (now filled in and an expressway runs over it), Dotonbori River, and Nagahori River (now filled in and Nagahori-dori). During the Edo period, it was a shipping hub at the mouth of the Kizu River, and there were many wholesalers of lumber, firewood, and charcoal. In 1698 , the Horie River was excavated in the center, dividing the area into north and south. [1] 地を掘って水を通した人工の川。疏水。特に難波の堀江をいうことが多い。※書紀(720)仁徳一一年一〇月(前田本訓)「宮の北の郊原(の)を掘(ほり)て、南の水を引きて西の海に入る。因て其の水を号(な)づけて堀江(ホリエ)と曰ふ」[2][一] 大阪市西区の南部、木津川・西横堀川(現在は埋めたてられて上を高速道路が走る)・道頓堀川・長堀川(現在は埋めたてられて長堀通)に囲まれる地域の呼称。江戸時代は木津川口の廻船の発着所で、材木・薪炭の問屋が多かった。元祿一一年(一六九八)中央部に堀江川が開削され、南北に分けられた。[二] =ほりかわ(堀川)(二)(一)※浄瑠璃・傾城酒呑童子(1718)一「誰かほり江で水たかき、矢を射る如き川の瀬を、戻り橋とは付ぬらん」[三] 大阪市内を流れる淀川の古称。
