This magazine was first published in February 1930 by Kitakata Educational Publishing (Akita City), which promoted the life-writing movement in response to the national magazine Tsuzurikata Seikatsu. As stated in the founding declaration, "Tzurikata education research rooted in the northern environment born from the trend of educational decentralization," it opposed standardized education that only taught national textbooks. It also criticized the literary-based Tsuzurikata of the Akai Tori school, aiming to combine Tsuzurikata with social sciences, and attempted to develop life studies based on the regional characteristics of rural Tohoku, the harsh natural environment, and the harsh agricultural and fishing labor and poor life that children face there.
