A city in the southeastern part of Heilongjiang Province, China. It is an important location for land and water transportation where three railway lines, Mudanjiang (Mudanjiang-Chams), Mutu (Mudanjiang-Tumen), and Binzui (Harbin-Suiphenhe), join Mudanjiang. The city was established in 1935. The tire industry is thriving, and spinning and weaving and lumber industries are also carried out. Wheat, soybeans, rice, etc. are distributed from the surrounding area. Apple cultivation is thriving in the suburbs.
