Hosoiri [village] - Hosoiri

Japanese: 細入[村] - ほそいり

A village in Nei County, southern Toyama Prefecture. Population 2,165 (1995). It is located on the west bank of the midstream of the Jinzu River, in the mountainous area on the northern edge of the Hida Highlands. It is a difficult spot on the Hida Highway (now National Route 41), and in the Edo period, a checkpoint for the Toyama Domain was located at Inotani. The northern part of the village, centered around Nirehara, is dominated by the Nichiren sect, while the southern part, centered around Inotani, is dominated by the Zen sect, showing regional characteristics. After World War II, power development work was carried out on the Jinzu River and national highway repair work was carried out, and day laborers working on civil engineering projects changed the lives of the villagers.

富山県南部，婦負（ねい）郡の村。人口2165(1995)。神通川中流西岸にあり，飛驒高地北縁部の山地にある。飛驒街道(現，国道41号線)の難所で，江戸時代には猪谷（いのたに）に富山藩の関所が置かれていた。楡原（にれはら）を中心とする北部は日蓮宗が，猪谷を中心とする南部は禅宗が盛んで，地域性がみられる。第2次大戦後，神通川の電源開発工事と国道の改修工事が行われ，土木工事の日雇稼ぎは村民の生活を変えた。
