An old town in the eastern part of the Nishisonogi Peninsula, Nishisonogi County, Nagasaki Prefecture. It faces Omura Bay, whose ancient name was Kotonoumi, and pearl farming and sea cucumber and shrimp fishing are carried out here. Mandarin orange cultivation is popular, and the town also produces melons, strawberries, and persimmons. It was incorporated into Nagasaki City in January 2006. Area: 67.62 km2 .
