A mountain in the northern part of the Akaishi Mountains in western Yamanashi Prefecture. It consists of three mountains: Jizogatake (2,764m), Kannongatake (2,841m), and Yakushidake (2,780m). The summit is made of hornblende biotite granite, but is severely weathered. At the summit of Jizogatake there is an independent rock peak with a relative height of about 60m. The mountain's majestic appearance as seen from the Kofu Basin has made it the subject of mountain worship since ancient times, and there are many Jizo statues at Sainokawara on the mountainside. There are many waterfalls, including Shojingataki Falls on the Ishiutoro River, and Minami Shojingataki, Shiraitonotaki, and Goshikigataki Falls in Dondokozawa, the upper reaches of the Kobu River. The mountain is beautifully landscaped with alpine plants, including a primeval forest of pumila.
