Whippet (species) (English spelling)

Japanese: ホイペット[種]（英語表記）whippet

A racing dog that originated in England. It is a miniature greyhound with some terrier blood mixed in. In the 19th century, it was bred for workers and commoners in industrial areas so that dog races, which were enjoyed by aristocrats and capitalists, could be enjoyed at low cost and on narrow tracks in the same way as greyhounds. Its appearance is just like a miniature greyhound. Its coat is short and smooth, and the same color as a greyhound. It is a small breed, standing 43-47cm tall and weighing 7-12kg. [Ichiki Hikozo]
