A drug that is widely used as an antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent, it acts by acetylating cyclooxygenase, an enzyme in the prostaglandin biosynthesis pathway, thereby inactivating it (acting as a cyclooxygenase inhibitor), and this is thought to be the reason for its efficacy.
