Perlon (English spelling)
The trade name of a synthetic fiber developed by the German company IG. (1) A polyurethane-based synthetic fiber developed in 1937. A condensation polymer of diisocyanate and glycol. The initial trade name was Perlon.U., and later became common as polyurethane. (2) A polyamide-based synthetic fiber (→ nylon fiber) developed in 1938. Made by ring-opening catalytic polymerization of ε-caprolactam in the presence of water. This is known as 6-nylon, and is different from the 6,6-nylon developed by DuPont. The trade name was Perlon.L.

ドイツのイーゲー社の開発した合成繊維の商品名。 (1) 1937年に開発されたポリウレタン系合成繊維。ジイソシアネートとグリコールの縮合重合体。初期の商品名は Perlon.U.,後にポリウレタンとして一般化。 (2) 1938年に開発されたポリアミド系合成繊維 (→ナイロン繊維 ) 。ε-カプロラクタムを水分存在下で開環接触重合させたもの。いわゆる6-ナイロンと呼ばれるもので,デュポン社の開発した6,6-ナイロンとは異なる。商品名 Perlon.L.。
