A chronicle of 30 volumes (27 volumes remain today). Compiled by the monk Eiyu (a person from the Northern and Southern Courts period, origin unknown). It has various other names depending on the manuscript, such as "Rekidai Henronshusei," "Teiou Henronshusei," "Rekidai Henronki," and "Fuso Henronroku." It is said to have covered the period from Emperor Jinmu to Emperor Gokogon (or Emperor Goenyu) of the Northern Court, but since the last three volumes have been lost, only the portion up to Emperor Gofushimi (late 13th century) remains. It is divided into sections for each emperor, first recording events of that period, then a brief biography of each imperial family member, people who held important positions in the Imperial or Military Department, and the history of major temples. It is included in the "Kokushi Taikei." [Masuda Muneta] Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
