Japanese: 下弓田遺跡 - しもゆみたいせき

A late Jomon period site in Kitsunezuka, Minamikata, Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It is located in a sand dune area near the mouth of the Fukushima River, which flows into Shibushi Bay. In 1959, sites A and B were surveyed, and the Ichiki-style pottery, which constitutes the main part of this site, was excavated at site B. Six strata were identified, with the second and third layers showing stable strata, with the second layer as the upper layer, the third layer as the middle layer, and the fourth layer and below as the lower layer. All of the pottery excavated was marked with shell marks, but the lower layer, which mainly had piercing patterns and a small, thickened, L-shaped rim, was classified as Shimoyumida type, the middle layer had a wide, thickened, L-shaped rim and abundant piercing patterns made by shell ventral edges, was classified as Ichiki type, and the upper layer had a L-shaped rim, no thickening, and sparsely spaced piercing patterns made by shell ventral edges, was classified as Kusano type.

宮崎県串間市南方字狐塚にある縄文時代後期の遺跡。志布志湾に注ぐ福島川の河口付近に広がる砂丘地帯にある。1959年A,B2地点が調査され，B地点より本遺跡の主体となる市来式系土器群が出土した。層位は6層確認され，第2～第3層が安定した層位を示し，第2層を上層，第3層を中層，第4層以下を下層とした。出土した土器はいずれも貝殻条痕の施された土器であるが，下層の刺突文をおもに施し，口縁部が小さくくの字状に肥厚した土器を下弓田式，中層の口縁部がくの字状に幅広に肥厚し，貝殻腹縁による刺突文の盛行する土器を市来式，上層のくの字状口縁で肥厚せず，間隔の粗な貝殻腹縁による刺突文の施された土器を草野式として層位的に編年された。
