Perrier - Casimir Périer

French politician. He was president of Banque Perrier and director of the Bank of France, but became active in politics after being elected to the House of Representatives in 1817. During the Restoration period, he gathered liberal members of parliament and took the lead in criticizing the government. After the July Revolution of 1830, he supported the Louis Philippe monarchy as the leader of the Resistance party, and in March 1831 formed a cabinet in place of Lafitte. In foreign affairs, he advocated the maintenance of the Vienna system, while dispatching French troops to Belgium. In domestic affairs, he prioritized the restoration of order, and suppressed the riots in Lyon in November. The following year, in 1832, he visited the Paris Municipal Hospital during an epidemic of the plague, where he contracted the plague and died.

フランスの政治家。ペリエ銀行の頭取、フランス銀行の理事であったが、1817年に衆議院議員に選出されてから政界で活躍するようになった。復古王政期には自由主義的議員を集め率先して政府批判を行った。1830年の七月革命後抵抗党の領袖(りょうしゅう)としてルイ・フィリップ王政を支持し、1831年3月にラフィットにかわって内閣を組織した。外交面ではウィーン体制維持を唱えながら、ベルギーにフランス軍を派遣した。内政では秩序の回復を最優先させて推進するとともに、11月のリヨンの暴動を鎮圧した。翌1832年ペストの流行のなかパリ市立病院を訪れ、ペストに感染して死亡した。
