UNIMA

...The Takeda Puppet Theatre (Takeda-za) was established in Osaka by Takeda Izumo around 1660 (Manji 3), and performed with string puppets, automata, and hand puppets. It went bankrupt with the eighth generation, but Takeda Sannosuke revived it in 1955, and released "Yuki-ko," which attracted attention and led to overseas expansion. UNIMA (short for Union internationale de la marionnette) was formed in Prague, Czech Republic, in 1929 as an international federation of puppet theater. As of 1988, organizations and individuals from 60 countries are participating, and Japan UNIMA was formed in 1967 and joined the federation.
