…Italian humanist and publisher. His Italian name was Aldo Manuzio, and his real name was Teobaldo Manucci. He studied Greek and Latin under Guarino da Verona in Ferrara, and served as a private tutor to a nobleman in Carpi. In 1495, he established a printing company in Venice, especially for the purpose of promoting the study of Greek classics. With the help of exiled scholars from the Byzantine Empire, such as Musros and Lascaris, he mainly edited and revised the texts himself, and published 96 works and 27 volumes of introductory books on Greek classics during his lifetime, contributing to their dissemination. …
