Ming Shi Lu (Records of the Ming Dynasty)

Japanese: 明実録 - みんじつろく(英語表記)Ming-shi-lu
Ming Shi Lu (Records of the Ming Dynasty)
The Ming Dynasty is a record of the 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty. It is officially called the Da Ming Annals and commonly known as the Huang Ming Annals, and Ming Annals is an abbreviation of both. It consists of 3,058 volumes. Its contents are not limited to the personal words and deeds of the emperors, but also record all important political, social, and economic events during their reigns in chronological order, making it a fundamental source for the study of Ming history. Although it was a secret book, it has been passed down to later generations as copies, and some of these copies have been passed down to Japan and are held by the Imperial Household Agency Archives, the National Archives of Japan, and the National Diet Library, among others. In 1940, the Jiangsu Classics Library version was facsimile, and in 1967, a facsimile published by the Institute of History and Philology at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan was reprinted.
