A town in Notsuke County in eastern Hokkaido. It occupies the vast Konsen Plateau. Large-scale development, including pilot farms, has made it the center of dairy farming in Hokkaido. Dairy farming, including raising dairy cows, is thriving, and the town produces a lot of raw milk. Fishing involves fixed net fishing for salmon and trout, and boat fishing for scallops, sea urchins, and flounder. There are many scenic spots, including Cape Notsuke, Odaito, and Lake Furen.
