Old City Museum

…The second largest city in Denmark, and the capital of Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland Peninsula. Population: 280,000 (1996). Located at the mouth of the Aarhus River, its name comes from aros (meaning river mouth in Old Danish), and it is a key point for land and sea transportation in northern Jutland. In addition to being an industrial city with a variety of industries, it is also the second largest cultural city after Copenhagen, and is home to a wide range of educational institutions, including Aarhus University, Denmark's second largest university (opened in 1928). Around 900, this area became a trading post connecting other parts of Denmark and Norway, and in 948 a bishopric was established here. …
