Bundelkhand (English spelling)

Japanese: ブンデールカンド（英語表記）Bundelkhand

The name of a region in northern India, spanning the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Its area is about 55,000 km2. Its main city is Jhansi. The name comes from the Bundela clan of Rajput people who settled here around the 14th century. It borders the Yamuna River to the north, the Sindh River to the west, the northeastern tip of the Vindhya Mountains to the south, and Bagerkhand to the east. The northern third of the region is the alluvial plain of the middle reaches of the Ganges River, and is separated from the Deccan Plateau in the south by a 150-meter contour line.
