A spectrograph is a spectral photograph taken by a spectrograph. Photosensitive material can be considered one of the best light detection elements for the wavelength range of light from the extreme ultraviolet to the near infrared. Because it performs two-dimensional light detection as well as integration and recording functions, it requires a development process, but is still widely used today even though various photoelectric detectors are widespread. Since a spectrograph can capture a spectrum over a wide wavelength range with a single exposure, it is possible to simultaneously display wide wavelength information and spectral intensity information on the spectrograph.

分光写真器により撮影されたスペクトル写真をいう。写真感光材は光の波長領域の中で極紫外から近赤外域にかけての良好な光検出素子の一つであると考えてよい。二次元的光検出作用と同時に積分ならびに記録作用があるため，現像操作が必要であるものの，各種光電検出器が普及している現在でも広く用いられている。分光写真器は広い波長域のスペクトルを1回の露出で撮影できるため，分光写真上には広域波長情報とスペクトル強度情報を同時に乗せることができる。
