…JCF Schiller focused on the fact that human physical movements are also expressions of the moral spirit, and called the perfect harmony between sensibility and reason, inclination and duty, the “beautiful soul” (schöne Seele), and determined the direction of subsequent grace theory by saying that the expression of this is nothing other than grace. However, going back further, there are many other theorists who have studied the concept originating from the Greek word charis, and it was Raymond Bayer who compiled the results of their investigation into these theories in his large work, “Aesthetics of Grace” (1933). Furthermore, Katsunori Onishi critically and in detail discusses the position of grace in aesthetic category theory in a rigorous and precise manner. …
