三十年戦争のさなか,トルステンソンLennart Torstensson(1603‐51)率いるスウェーデン軍が,ユトランド半島に侵入してこれを席巻した後,1645年にデンマーク王クリスティアン4世とデンマーク・スウェーデン国境の町ブレムセブルーBrömsebro(現,スウェーデン領)で結んだ和議。その結果スウェーデンは,デンマークがバルト海,北海の航行船舶から徴収していた〈海峡税〉を免れ,ハッランド,イェムトランド,バルト海上のゴトランド島,エーゼル島を獲得し,バルト帝国の基礎を築いた。
