This is a story from the collection of stories by Russian author I. Turgenev, "The Hunter's Diary," based on rural life. It was written in 1850. It is a gem of a short story depicting a final love affair between an innocent peasant girl and a pretentious servant who is used to the city, in the silence of an autumn birch forest. In Japan, in 1888, Futabatei Shimei's excellent translation of "Ahizuki" in colloquial Japanese was published in the July-August issue of "Kokumin no Tomo" magazine, which evoked astonishment and admiration in the reading world at the time and had a great influence on the development of modern Japanese literature.

ロシアの作家 I.ツルゲーネフの農村生活に取材した小説集『猟人日記』中の一編。 1850年作。秋の白樺林の静寂のなかで，純情な百姓娘と都会慣れしたきざな下男とが最後のあいびきをする場面を描いた珠玉の短編。日本では 88年に二葉亭四迷による言文一致体の名訳『あひゞき』が『国民之友』誌7～8月号に発表され，当時の読書界に驚愕と感銘を呼起し，日本近代文学の発達に多大の影響を与えた。
