Mitsukazu Kato - Kato, not found
Year of birth: Year of birth and death unknown. A military commander in the early Kamakura period. He was called Kato Futo. His father was Kagekazu. In 1180, together with his father and younger brother Kagetaka, he participated in the uprising of Minamoto no Yoritomo, but was defeated in the Battle of Ishibashiyama and fled to Kai. He later advanced to Suruga with the Takeda clan and killed the deputy governor Tachibana Tomoshige. After that, he fought in various battles with his younger brother and became a powerful vassal of the Kamakura shogunate. He held the position of land steward of Toyoda-sho, Ikeda-beppu, and Nakaato-sho in Ise Province, and was also the steward of Onakatomi Yoshitaka, the chief priest of Ise Shrine. He also served the retired Emperor Gotoba as a west-facing warrior, was appointed as Ise no Kami and Kebiishi, and was called Daifu Hangan. During the Jokyu War (1221), he was on the side of the Kyoto faction, but there are no historical documents that tell us about his activities. All that is known is that his territory, Kano Maki in Izu Province, was confiscated and given to his younger brother Kagetaka, and that his son Mitsukane was killed as a member of the Kyoto faction. He apparently died shortly after the rebellion.
