...Student party members lost faith in the party leadership, which quickly changed course to a peaceful line without any reflection, and became disheartened. The movement rapidly stagnated, and the dissolution of university student councils followed. After the change in direction by the 6th All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Governments, the resentment against the Communist Party, which tried to lead student movements such as the All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Governments to a line of daily demands and self-care, led to the All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Governments' break with the Communist Party and the birth of the Bund (Communist League) (December 1958). At its 14th Congress in June 1959, the Bund seized leadership in the All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Governments from the Revolutionary Communist League (Revolutionary Communist League), which was created by reorganizing the Japanese Trotskyist League, and took the lead in the 1960 Security Treaty struggle (see the entry on the Japan-US Security Treaty). ...
