A river in British Columbia, Canada. It originates in the Rocky Mountains and flows into the Strait of Georgia south of Vancouver. It is 1,370 km long. The forest resources in the basin are transported downstream on rafts and cut into lumber. The salmon in this river are world famous, and salmon fishing and canning are one of the important industries in the basin. The discovery of gold dust in 1857 led to a gold rush.
