Bird's-nest fungus

...A small but unusual mushroom belonging to the Basidiomycete, Gastromycete, Nidulares order, Nidulariaceae family. Its English name is bird's-nest fungus. Take the somewhat large Cyathus striatus Fr. for example. The mushroom is an obscure cup shape, 8-13 mm high and 6-8 mm in diameter, with the outside covered in coarse, burdock-like hairs, brown to dark brown in color, and the inside gray to gray-brown in color, with clear vertical stripes.
