Furan resin is also called furan resin. It is a thermosetting resin with excellent chemical and heat resistance, and is mainly used as a corrosion-resistant lining or resin cement for joints. It is made by condensing furfuryl alcohol, obtained by reducing furfural, with formaldehyde. The black polymerization precursor obtained using toluenesulfonic acid as a catalyst is dissolved in a solvent and painted on the inside of a reaction vessel or tank, then baked. [Morikawa Masanobu]

フラン樹脂furan resinともいう。耐薬品性，耐熱性にすぐれた熱硬化性樹脂で，おもに耐食用ライニングあるいは樹脂セメントとして目地に用いられる。フルフラールの還元によって得られるフルフリルアルコールとホルムアルデヒドとを縮合させてつくる。トルエンスルホン酸を触媒として得られた黒色の重合前駆体を溶媒に溶かし，反応容器またはタンクの内側に塗装し，焼き付ける。【森川正信】
