It is a compound of fluorine and sulfur, and four types are known with the chemical formulas S ₂ F ₂ , SF ₄ , SF ₆ , and S ₂ F ₁₀ .
[Disulfur difluoride]
The chemical formula is S ₂ F ₂ . It is also known as sulfur monofluoride. It is obtained by heating and reacting silver fluoride (AgF) with excess sulfur in a vacuum. The most stable and abundant is the volatile F ₂ S＝S, which has a melting point of -133°C, a boiling point of -10.6°C, and is a colorless gas. There is also an isomer with the structure F－S－S－F.
[Sulfur tetrafluoride]
Chemical formula: _SF4 . It is obtained by reacting _SCl2 with NaF in acetonitrile.

　化学式S₂F₂。一フッ化硫黄ともいう。真空中でフッ化銀AgFと過剰の硫黄を加熱して反応させると得られる。安定で収量の多いのが，揮発性のF₂S＝Sであり，融点－133℃，沸点－10.6℃，無色の気体。ほかにF－S－S－Fの構造をもつ異性体も生ずる。
［四フッ化硫黄］
　化学式SF₄。アセトニトリル中でSCl₂とNaFを反応させると得られる。
