Artificial celestial body

Japanese: 人工天体 - じんこうてんたい

It is a general term for artificially launched satellites and planetary probes, but those that orbit the Earth are called artificial satellites, while other planetary probes are often called artificial celestial bodies or artificial planets. Objects launched at speeds faster than second cosmic velocity enter an elliptical orbit around the Sun and become artificial planets. The world's first artificial planet was the lunar probe Luna (No. 1), launched by the Soviet Union in 1959, and the first Japanese probe was the Comet Harry probe (Sakigake) in 1985. → Cosmic velocity / planetary probe
