He is known as the greatest French Hermeticist of the 20th century, but this was a pseudonym and his real identity, birth and death years are unknown. He is the author of two books, Secrets of the Cathedrals (1926) and The Dwelling of the Philosophers (1930). The former is a study of the alchemical symbolism seen in the sculptures of famous cathedrals such as Notre Dame de Paris, Amiens, and Bourges. The latter extends the same symbolic research to secular castles, and is also a book outlining the principles of Western alchemy.
