A university in Dublin, Ireland. It is called Trinity College Dublin to distinguish it from the colleges of the same name at Cambridge and Oxford universities. Its abbreviation is TCD. It was founded in 1592. It was originally conceived as a multi-college university, modelled on Cambridge and Oxford, but only Trinity was realized. For a long time it was the centre of education for the children of the Church of England in Ireland, but in 1873 admission was permitted without religious restrictions.

アイルランドのダブリンにある大学。ケンブリッジ，オックスフォード両大学の同名カレッジと区別して〈トリニティ･カレッジ･ダブリン〉と呼ばれる。略称TCD。1592年創立。当初，ケンブリッジ，オックスフォードにならって複数のカレッジをもつダブリン大学University of Dublinとして構想されたが，トリニティだけが実現した。長い間，アイルランドにおける英国国教会の子弟の教育の中心であったが，1873年からは宗教上の制約なしに入学が許可されるようになった。
