Japanese: ブリュンティエール
Bruntiere
French critic. Self-taught and knowledgeable, he served as a lecturer at the École Normale Supérieure and editor-in-chief of the journal "Rites of the Two Worlds." He advocated critical criticism over impressionistic criticism, and advocated the "evolution of genres" in literary history. In his later years, he converted to Catholicism. His works include "Critical Studies of the History of French Literature" in nine volumes (1880-1925) and "The Bankruptcy of Naturalism."
