Born: June 6, 1876 in Ehime [Died] August 2, 1957. Yugawara education scholar. Graduated from the Department of Philosophy, Kyoto University in 1916. After working as a lecturer at Nara Women's Higher Normal School, he became a professor at Tokyo Higher Normal School in 1914. After studying abroad in Europe and the United States in 1922, he became a professor at Tohoku University in 1923, a professor at Tokyo University of Literature and Science in 1930, and served as an educational inspector and head of the research department at the Ministry of Education, before becoming a professor emeritus at the same university in 1941. He introduced German educational thought and worked to establish his own original theory of education under the influence of neo-Kantian philosophy and cultural pedagogy. His main works are Outlines of Education (1926) and Theoretical Education (1930).
