A process that creates pleats in skirts, blouses, trousers, decorative lace, etc. that will not easily come off due to rain. Thermoplastic synthetic fibres can be made into permanent pleats that are wash-resistant by heat setting. In the case of woolen fabrics, pleats created by ironing are not durable. Siroset processing, developed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia, is a method of pleating woolen fabrics by steaming them in the presence of a reducing setting agent, in which the disulfide cross-links of the cystine residues in the wool are reduced and cut, setting the shape of the pleats in that state.

スカート，ブラウス，ズボン，飾りレースなどに，雨などで簡単にとれることのないひだ(プリーツ)を付ける加工。熱可塑性の合成繊維はヒートセットにより耐洗濯性のあるパーマネントプリーツが得られる。毛織物の場合はアイロン掛けでつけたひだは耐久性がない。オーストラリアの連邦科学産業機構(CSIRO)で開発されたシロセットSiroset加工は，毛織物を還元性セット剤の存在下で蒸熱してひだを与える方法であり，羊毛のシスチン残基のジスルフィド架橋結合が還元により切断され，その状態でひだの形がセットされるものである。
