Japanese: フモトシダ - ふもとしだ

An evergreen perennial fern of the Acanthaceae family (illustration), commonly found in low mountain and foothill forests in the Kanto and Hokuriku regions, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. It has long underground rhizomes and forms small colonies. The leaves are simple pinnate, yellowish green to dark green, 60-120 cm long including the petiole, and covered with pale hairs, although some have almost no hairs on the upper surface. The leaf blade is long ovate to ovate-triangular, the pinnae are shallowly to deeply lobed, and a group of sporangia surrounded by a pocket-like insula are lined up slightly away from the edge of the lobes, and the insula is hairy.

関東および北陸以西の本州，四国，九州，沖縄の低山地や山ろくの林内にやや普通にみられるコバノイシカグマ科の常緑多年生シダ植物（イラスト）。地下に長くはう根茎があり，小さな群落を作る。葉は単羽状で，黄緑色から暗緑色，葉柄を含めて長さ60～120cm，全体に淡色の毛が多いが，葉の表にほとんど毛のないものもある。葉身は長卵形から卵状三角形，羽片は浅～深裂し，裂片の辺縁からやや離れた位置にポケット状の包膜につつまれた胞子囊群が並び，包膜には毛がある。
