An insect belonging to the family Gryllidae in the order Orthoptera of the class Insecta. A small cricket that lives in riverbeds and similar to the closely related Madarasuzu cricket, it is 8 to 9 millimeters long. Its body is mottled black and white, with yellowish-white tips on the femoral segments of its forelegs and middle legs. The base of the female's forewings is also white. Adults appear from August to November, and are monovoltine. From the evening onwards, males chirp restlessly in a bright, repetitive manner, making a "lee, lee" sound.
