A research book on Kabuki appreciation. Written by Sugi Ganami. Published in 1918 (Taisho 7). One volume. Contains research on the direction of Kabuki Gidayu Kyogen (mostly period pieces) that was serialized in the magazine Engei Gaho from 1918 to 1941. The author performs a role in a literary drama that was well received as being on par with a professional, and compares and examines the performances of the roles performed by famous contemporary actors, and compares them with the original work to discuss their merits. This is a research book that goes several steps further than conventional articles that simply describe the stage, and is an unparalleled guide to stage appreciation.
