Also known as fusulinae. A type of foraminifera in the order Fusulina that flourished from the Carboniferous to Permian periods. They are spindle-shaped, spherical, etc. in shape. They have a calcareous shell, and the largest ones can reach a major axis of 1 cm. Over 100 genera and approximately 5,000 species are known from tropical to subtropical marine deposits around the world.
