Workplace allowance - Kinmuchi teate

An allowance paid to workers employed at establishments located in a particular region to adjust for differences in the cost of living due to differences in the economic and regional conditions and lifestyles of the region, and to equalize real wages. It is also called a regional allowance or regional wage. The most common calculation method is to divide the region into several stages, and multiply the total monthly amount of basic salary and family allowance by the payment rate for each stage. It spread due to the imbalance in prices and supply and demand of daily necessities between regions that arose during the economic turmoil after World War II, but as differences in living standards are reduced and equalized, it tends to decrease, except for special cases such as remote area allowances.

特定の地域に所在する事業所に勤務する労働者に対して、当該地域の経済的・地域的条件、生活様式の相違による生計費の差を調整し、実質賃金の平準化を図るために支払われる手当。地域手当、地域給ともいう。もっとも多くみられる算定方法は、地区を数段階に分け、基本給および家族手当の月額の合計額に対し、それぞれの地区の支給率を乗ずるものである。第二次世界大戦後の経済的混乱のなかで生じた、生活必需品の地域間の価格・需給不均衡を契機に広がったが、生活水準の差が縮小、均一化されるにつれて、僻地(へきち)手当などの特別なものを除いて減少する傾向にある。
