Mariveles

…On the eastern coast of the peninsula, there is a narrow coastal plain, but on the South China Sea side, mountains covered with dense forests run up close to the coast. At the tip of the peninsula is the natural harbor of Mariveles, and its geographical location, which controls the entrance to Manila Bay, gives it great strategic importance. It was the site of a major battle during World War II and the starting point of the famous "Death March."
