〘Noun〙① Duties imposed on feudal lords, samurai, and subjects during the Muromachi and Edo periods, such as repairing castles, rivers, and roads. ※ Zokusen Kiyomasa-ki (1664), 6 "Ten people were sent out for 1,000 koku, and they performed construction work from February 2nd to the last day of November."② One of the job titles in the Edo Shogunate. From 1724 ( the 9th year of the Kyoho era), under the control of the Finance Magistrate, they were in charge of inspecting and repairing embankments, river breakers, irrigation canals , and other construction sites in the Shogunate territories of the five rivers along the Tokaido and 15 provinces, as well as inspecting new fields, under the command of the head of the Finance Magistrate's Office's Otorikata group. ※Chiho Legends (1794), 7 "The new field clerk was directly ordered to be the Ofushinyaku."

〘名〙① 室町・江戸時代、大名、諸士、領民などに課せられた城郭・河川・道路の修築などの夫役(ぶやく)。※続撰清正記（1664）六「千石に十人出し、二月二日より十一月晦日迄、普請役致し候なり」② 江戸幕府の職名の一つ。享保九年（一七二四）より、勘定奉行支配下で勘定所御取箇方(おとりかがた)組頭の指揮のもとに、東海道五川、一五か国の幕府領の堤、川除(かわよけ)、用水などの普請箇所の検分・修築、新田の検分などをつかさどったもの。※地方凡例録（1794）七「新田手代を直に御ふしんやくに仰付られ」
