An American pulp magazine (1923-54). Along with Der Orchideengarten (1919-21), published in Germany, it was the world's first magazine specializing in fantasy and horror stories. In the 1930s, when Farnsworth Wright (1888-1940) was editor, it published masterpieces by Lovecraft and RE Howard, and its taste for the supernatural is still carried on in some of the American science fiction of today.
