Thüringer Wald

Japanese: チューリンガー･ワルト（英語表記）Thüringer Wald

A mountain range stretching from northwest to southeast through central Germany. Bounded in the northwest by the Werra River, a tributary of the Weser River, and in the southeast by the Saale River, a tributary of the Elbe River, it forms the watershed between the Weser River system, the Elbe River system, and the Rhine-Main River system. In the southeast, it continues into the Franken-Walt. Its elevation ranges from 650 to 850 meters, with the highest peak being Beerberg (982 meters) in the center, followed by Schneekopf (978 meters) and Inselsberg (916 meters). Old roads run through the Norway spruce forests along the mountain ridges, and forestry is a thriving industry.

ドイツ中央部を北西から南東にのびる山脈。北西をウェーザー川支流のウェラ川に，南東をエルベ川支流のザーレ川に限られ，ウェーザー川水系，エルベ川水系，ライン･マイン川水系の分水界をなす。南東部はフランケン･ワルトに続いている。標高650～850mで，最高峰は中央部のベールベルクBeerberg(982m)，次いでシュネーコップ(978m)，インゼルスベルク(916m)。山稜線に沿ってドイツトウヒの林の中に古くからの道が通じ，林業が盛んに行われる。
