Son of Fujiwara no Tamesuke. His mother was the daughter of Fujiwara no Kamiyoshi. He married Murasaki Shikibu around the first year of the Choho era, and had a child, Masako (Daini Sanmi). He served as Chikuzen no Kami, Yamashiro no Kami, and other positions. He was ranked as Junior Fifth Rank. He died of an epidemic on April 25, the third year of the Choho era.
