A town in Futaba County, eastern Fukushima Prefecture. Facing the Pacific Ocean, it occupies the basin of the Asami River and Oriki River, and has wide hilly land. The center is the former post station of Asami River on the Rikuzenhama Kaido, and the Joban Line and Joban Expressway pass through it. Rice and field crops are cultivated. There is a Tokyo Electric Power Company thermal power plant.
