An old town in Shimotsuga District, southern Tochigi Prefecture. It occupies the lowlands along the Watarase River, and the low marshes in the southern half are a flood control basin. The central settlement developed as a river port and market town during the Edo period, and is served by the Tobu Nikko Line and the Tohoku Expressway. Rice farming and greenhouse horticulture are practiced here. In March 2010, it merged with Tochigi City, Ohira Town in Shimotsuga District, and Tsuga Town. 60.45 km2 . Population: 18,056 (2005).

Fujioka [town] [Fujioka]

A former town in Nishikamo District, northern Aichi Prefecture. Occupying a hilly area with Mt. Mikuni (701m) to the north and Mt. Sanage (629m) to the west, the town cultivates tea, vegetables, and fruit. Known for its high-quality clay from the ancient Sanage kiln, the town was incorporated into Toyota City in April 2005 along with the village of Obara in Nishikamo District, and the towns of Asuke, Asahi, Inabu, and Shimoyama in Higashikamo District. 65.58 km2 . Population 18,776 (2003).

愛知県北部,西加茂郡の旧町。北に三国山(701m),西に猿投(さなげ)山(629m)がそびえる丘陵地帯を占め,茶,野菜,果物などを栽培。古窯の猿投窯で知られる良質陶土の産地。2005年4月西加茂郡小原村,東加茂郡足助町,旭町,稲武町,下山村と豊田市へ編入。65.58km2。1万8776人(2003)。
