〘Noun〙 (also "Buke Densou") A title of office in the Imperial Court during the Muromachi and Edo periods. The position involved liaison between the Imperial Court and the Shogunate over lawsuits, ceremonies, and other matters. Also, the person who performed that role. It was institutionalized after the Muromachi period, and in the Edo period, the Shogunate would select two people from among the Nagon and Sangi who excelled in academics and eloquence. Since there were two of them, it was also called Ryodensou. 〘名〙 (「ぶけでんそう」とも) 室町・江戸時代の朝廷の職名。訴訟や儀式そのほかの諸事にわたって、朝廷と幕府の間の連絡にあたった役職。また、その役の人。室町時代以後に制度化し、江戸時代には幕府が、納言・参議の中から学才・弁舌に優れた者二名を選んだ。二人いるので両伝奏ともいう。武伝。※親長卿記‐明応五年(1496)六月三日「勧修寺前大納言〈教秀〉〈略〉武家伝奏事辞退」
