〘Noun〙 (boogie-woogie) A variation of blues played on the piano. It was created by a black American pianist in the 1920s. It is characterized by the constant repetition of an eight-beat rhythm with the left hand in cut notes, while the right hand plays the melody. It was widely popular in the 1940s, and many popular songs were written in Japan with the title "...boogie."
