-EVA is an indicator of return of profits to shareholders, trademarked by the American consulting firm Stern Stewart & Co.
・EVA is an indicator that shows how much return is generated from the capital invested. If EVA is positive, it means that the company is generating the rate of return required by shareholders.
・In human resources, EVA is sometimes used as a performance indicator when calculating bonus funds. The advantage of using this performance indicator is that it encourages activities that focus on returning profits to shareholders, since the amount is the source of funds minus the cost of capital. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that the cost of capital is influenced by management's decisions such as capital policy, which can lead to low employee satisfaction.

・人事関連において、EVAは、賞与原資を算出する際の業績指標として活用されることがある。この業績指標を活用するメリットは、資本コストを差し引いた額を原資とするため、株主に対する収益還元に重点を置いた活動を促すこと。一方デメリットは、資本コストは資本政策等経営陣よる意思決定に左右されるため、社員の納得感が低くなることである。
