Haleakala National Park

A national park on the island of Maui, Hawaii, USA. Mount Haleakala (2,935m above sea level) in the park is a shield volcano, and its summit crater is the largest in the world, shaped like a gourd, with a long axis of 12km and a short axis of 4km, and a depth of 830m. It was originally part of Hawaii National Park, but was separated as Haleakala National Park in 1961. At the same time, Hawaii National Park was renamed Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
